Owning all the decisions

It’s not easy.

Maybe you think that because you have no one to argue with, life would be easier.

Unfortunately, it is not.

With no one to share your thoughts to, to ask opinion from… and yes, even to argue with, you are on your own.

From the trivial things  to the biggest concerns — you own everything.

The problem with that is you may not now if you are right or wrong. Perhaps, you might think that it is swell because you will always be right. But just because nobody is there to contradict what you have to say, it does not mean that you right.

Sometimes, you are not even sure of yourself, but you know you need to make a decision. Sometimes, you need to take a risk… because you’re on your own.

And then, you will realize… it’s not nice… owning all the decisions.

But you’ve an advantage over lesser mortals. You’re a blogger. You’ve resources at your disposal. You can convene a “meeting” of your friends. An incredible number of experts have listening posts online. You only have to ring ring their door bells. :)

Yeah, it’s not the same. You’d run the risk of making your voice hoarse with all the explanation you’ve to do to make the problem understood. Simply not the same thing as when you sigh or when you look at your significant other and she knows instinctively what’s bothering you. She’s mapped your mind and its inner workings down pat. You know very well what to do deep inside, and yet you second-guess yourself. You need that knowing look, the go ahead signal from her. Her imprimatur is the red badge of courage you sorely need.

But she hasn’t really left you, has she? If you listen hard enough, you can almost predict what she’s gonna say.

    • Right you are, Jan. I do get that feeling a lot of times. Like somebody whispering to me… and I don’t mean those voices in my short stories blog :)

Yes, I know I can always bother you and the rest of the gang. But there are some things that you just can’t say, or are not really easy to say.

      Thanks, Jan.

Why not connect with other single parents who are also blogging? I’m sure there are lots of people who are in the same boat.
